Comments: Ernst and Hartsell (2000) showed that MALACLEMYS TUBERCULIFERA Gray 1844 predates the currently used name for the mangrove diamondback terrapin, Malaclemys terrapin RHIZOPHORARUM Fowler 1906. They stated that the ICZN has been petitioned to conserve the name RHIZOPHORARUM.
