Global Range: Southern British Columbia southward through the western United States to northwestern Mexico; west to central Washington, central Oregon, eastern and southern California, Sonora, and islands in the Gulf of California; east to South Dakota, Kansas, western Oklahoma, and Texas (Hall 1981). This is the most widespread subspecies of C. townsendii.
