Hipposideros khasiana is a medium-sized leaf-nosed bat. This species was only recently separated from the closely related Hipposideros larvatus based on molecular data (Thabah et al. 2006). The two species also show slight morphological differences and each has a distinct peak call frequency. The type locality for this species is Tem-dibai cave at Sohbar, East Khasi Hills District in Meghalaya, northeast India (Thabah et al. 2006).
