There are 120,000 known species of Hymenoptera. Most people would think that nearly all species of Hymenoptera are known. However, this is far from the case. Scientists estimate that there are 1,000 unclassified species that we know of, and nearly 5 million species of Hymenoptera yet to be discovered.
