Anopheles (Nyssorhynchus) janconnae Wilkerson and Sallum was previously known as Anopheles albitarsis E. It is 1 of 6 species in the Anopheles albitarsis species complex.Studying the ecology and transmission of malaria in the members of the Anopheles albitarsis complex is difficult because, with one exception, they are indistinguishable using morphology alone. However, they can be distinguished genetically.
