Range Description

Endemic to the Western Ghats of Karnataka, this species is found in Castle Rock in the north to Kudremukh in the south at an altitudinal range of 200 to 800 m. The extent of occurrence encompassing known and inferred distribution is less then 12,000 km, while the area of occupancy is below 2,000 km. Recorded locations include: Castle Rock in Uttara Kannada district (Pocock 1899, 1900); Kanara Ghats in Dakshina Kannada district (Pocock 1899, 1900); Karwar (6.5miles from Castle Rock) in Uttara Kannada (Pocock 1899, 1900); and Kudremukh National Park in Chikmagalur and Dakshina Kannada districts (Molur and Siliwal 2004).
