This species occurs in the west and central Colombia, lowlands of the valley of Magdalena river (Goodwin, 1955), unknown distribution south in the valley (M. Gómez-Laverde pers. comm.); also northwest Ecuador (Musser and Carleton, 2005). It has an altitudinal range of 50 to 1,100 m in Ecuador (D. Tirira pers. comm.).
