Description

Wagner's gerbil is a medi­um-sized gerbil. Male is larger and heavier than female. Fur on the upperparts sandy- brown, grey at the base, and white on the underparts. Upperparts with fine agouti pattern. The color of the body becoming paler to a narrow border of clear yellowish on the side of the body and forelegs. Feet white. Ear large and pigmented. Broad, conspicuous band of dark-tipped hairs running from mystacial area beneath eye to base of ear. Tail color back on the upper surface and white on the ventral surface. Tail brush about one-half of the tail length. Palm and sole of the feet without hairs.
