The Anderson's gerbil is a medium-sized gerbil but slightly larger than lesser Egyptian gerbil. Fur on the upperparts long, dense, brownish orange. The sides of the body clear orange. Underparts and feet white. Eyes large and surrounded by thin, black ring. Ears large, distinguished and dark in color. Broad band of dark-tipped hairs extending from mystacial area beneath eye to base of ear. Postorbital and postauricular areas small and white. Small and white patch on the rump. Tail color on the dorsal side back with blackish hairs and the distal portion of underside white but proximal portion buff. Tail brush small, about one-fourth of the tail length, and not obvious. Palm and sole almost completely haired. The sole of the feet pigmented.
