Learn more about this article

This species is known from coastal South Africa and from disjunct populations in Tanzania, Botswana and Mozambique. The populations are separated by areas of unsuitable habitat. It occurs from sea level in the southern part of its range, to montane areas in the north.

Brant's Climbing Mouse (Dendromus mesomelas) is a species of rodent in the Nesomyidae family. It is found in Botswana, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Kenya, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, South Africa, Tanzania, and Zambia. Its natural habitats are subtropical or tropical moist montane forests, dry savanna, Mediterranean-type shrubby vegetation, and subtropical or tropical high-altitude grassland.
