Range Description

This species is endemic to Australia, where it is widespread in the central and western parts of the country (Breed 2008). It is present on some offshore islands in Western Australia, including Dirk Hartog, Dixon, Rosemary, and Hope off the Pilbara (A. Burbidge pers. comm.). It has long been suspected to occur in Queensland, but this has only been recently confirmed; some misidentified species have been reassigned as Pseudomys hermannsburgensis, and it is now frequently captured in south-west Queensland (Kutt et al. 2003).
