Range Description

This species is endemic to Australia where it is restricted to coastal areas in north-eastern Arnhem Land and Groote Eylandt in Northern Territory. The type specimen was reportedly collected on the Cape York Peninsula, Queensland some time prior to 1867, however, the species has not since been recorded here (Winter and Allison 1980; Lee 1995; Woinarski and Flannery 2008). There is a possibility that it is found in northern Queensland. There is one isolated record from Maningrida, north-central Arnhem Land, but the area of suitable habitat around this record is limited (J. Woinarski pers. comm.).
