Alec Lindsay commented on "Poecile atricapillus (Linnaeus, 1766)":
Black-capped chickadees (_Poecile atricapillus_) are fairly indistinguishable from Carolina chickadees (_Poecile carolinensis_) using visual field marks alone (i.e. photographs). Differences in vocalizations are the best way to tell these two species apart. The vetted images shown here are best viewed not as confirmed black-capped chickadees, but as indistinguishable from black-capped chickadees.
