Biology
Found around deep rocky reefs up to a depth of at least 30 m (Ref. 9710). Solitary or in small groups (Ref. 9710). Also caught with nets and other kinds of artisanal gear. Mainly sold fresh.

This is a large species with relatively restricted distribution. There are no reliable records of fishery or information on its biology. It is captured by subsistence fisheries but is unlikely to be heavily fished. It occurs in a number of marine protected areas in parts of its range. It is therefore listed as Least Concern.
