Range Description

Magnolia annamensis is endemic to southern Viet Nam where it is only known from forests at 1,470 m asl in Hon-Ba mountains in the Nhat Trang province of Annam. The potential forest distribution, used here as an estimate of the extent of occurrence, is 13,949 km2 and it has a very restricted distribution.

This species is classified as Vulnerable as the extent of occurrence (EOO) is 13,949 km2, it occurs at four locations and, although it remains common in protected areas, its range is relatively restricted and populations are declining outside protected areas as a result of deforestation. The species may be reassessed as more threatened with further research.
