A perennial woody based herb with erect or ascending stems, sometimes prostrate and branched, especially from the base. Leaves are entire, lower cauline leaves are alternate, oblong to oblong-linear or linear-lanceolate and obtuse or truncate; upper cauline leaves are acute, umbellate leaves are oblong-elliptic and floral leaves are smaller and ovate-triangular to suborbicular. Umbel rays are 3–5 and repeatedly forked. Inflorescence is a pedunculate cyathia enclosed in a campanulate involucre with ovate lobes. Fruit is a depressed-globose capsule, 3-lobed, smooth and glabrous, with ovoid seeds, laterally compressed, smooth and greyish.
