Tall climber, sometimes attaining 10 m or more. Leaves: lamina ovate-orbicular, 60 - 100 cm long, pinnatifid into many segments, perforate with elliptic to oblong holes in 1-4 series on each side of the midrib; petiole as long as the lamina. Spathe creamy-white, to c. 30 cm long; spadix slightly shorter, ripening into a large edible fruit.
