Beclardia macrostachya is endemic to Mauritius, Reunion Island and Madagascar. It is epiphytic and prefers rainy and shady forests. The flowering period is generally from February to May. The flowers occur in simple racemes bearing mostly 6 to 8. Flower is white in colour, with a yellowish/orangish tinch on the labellum. Two ecotypes of this species occur, one that bears fewer flowers per inflorescence and shorter leaf length, while the other ecotype is more robust, bearing longer leaves and more flowers per inflorescence.
