Description

An annual plant with slender, erect culms. Leaf-sheath auricles are falcate, the ligule is an eciliate membrane and leaf-blades are flat or involute.
Inflorescence is a narrowly cylindrical raceme, excluding the awns, slightly laterally compressed, tapering above and below, and disarticulating at the base of each internode. Spikelets are 3–4 flowered, narrowly elliptic-ovoid and laterally compressed.
