Brief Summary

With some imagination, a blossoming blade of prairie junegrass resembles a torch. In Dutch, its name is literally 'narrow torch grass'. It is a relatively short grass growing in many kinds of environments, including the dunes. In fact, its presence indicates a specific kind of landscape. If prairie junegrass is found in the dunes, then these dunes have been developing for centuries but are still not totally depleted of calcium. There are more species of plants and moss found in a prairie junegrass landscape than in one with marram grass.
