Range Description

Cypripedium macranthos is a widespread but highly variable Asian species whose native range includes China, Russia, Japan, the Koreas, and Taiwan, Province of China.

Cypripedium macranthos extends from European Russia (Upper Dnepr and Volga-Kama regions), the Urals, south and far east Siberia, Kamchatka, Sakhalin and Kurile Islands, and Kamchatka. It occurs in northeastern Kazakhstan, Mongolia (Huvsgul, Hentii, Mongol Daguur and Khyangan), northern and northeastern China (Hebei, Heilongjiang, Jilin, Liaoning, Nei Mongol, Shandong), Korea, Japan and Taiwan.The species is doubtfully found in Ukraine and Byelorussia.

Cypripedium macranthos can be found up to 2,400 m altitude.
