Perennial soft-succulent herb, up to 70 cm. Plants mostly solitary not clustered. Leaves in a rosette sheathing at the base, lanceolate, up to 8 cm wide, glabrous with ciliolate hairs along the margins. 1-5 flowering stems with dense many-flowered inflorescences. It is easily distinguished from other species in Zimbabwe by the broad leaves.
