Range Description

Despite intensive searches in 1998-1999, this species is still restricted to the Pastaza river valley in the province of Tungurahua. Subpopulations are found from the Bascún stream on the slopes of Tungurahua volcano to the Río Negro on the Baños-Puyo road, where it forms clumps of fewer than 100 individuals.
