Chasmanthium

Chasmanthium is a genus of half a dozen species[3] of grasses native to the eastern United States and Northern Mexico. Members of the genus are commonly known as woodoats.[4] One species, Chasmanthium latifolium, is commonly cultivated.[3] The name is derived from the Greek words χάσμα (chasma), meaning "wide opening," and ἀνθός (anthos), meaning "flower."[5]
