Haaniella saussurei is a phasmid in the family Heteropterygidae.  LIke other species in the genus Haaniella, H. saussurei has large spines on its body that may be green, particularly in males. Females lay lemon-shaped eggs (Bragg 1998, 2001).

Haaniella saussurei is native to coastal and near coastal areas of Sarawak, Borneo (Bragg 1998, 2001).  In the late 1990s it was introduced into the pet trade (Seiler et al. 2000).
