Range Description

This deepwater species is endemic to the island of Réunion in the Indian Ocean. Its distribution is currently thought to be restricted to the area around St. Paul's Bay in West Coast Réunion (Röckel et al. 1995). After the description from a single specimen, three more specimens were found at the type locality, ascertained by the author. Other specimens have recently been reported from the Mozambique Channel and from Natal, but the identification of these needs verification (G. Raybaudi and S. Veldsman pers. comm. October 2011).
