Distribution: Mexico (Veracruz, Colima, Michoacán, Guerrero, Oaxaca, Tabasco, Campeche, Yucatán, Quintana Roo, Chiapas), Guatemala, El Salvador, Nicaragua,  Costa Rica, Panama, Colombia, Brazil (Pernambuco) Trinidad, Tobago, Isla Mona, Isla Monito, Virgin I, Turks I, Caicos I, Lesser Antilles, Redonda  mabouya: Anguilla, St.-Martin, St.-Barthélémy, Redonda, Montserrat, Guadeloupe and satellites, Marie-Galante, Dominica, St. Lucia, St. Vincent and satellites, Grenadines, Barbados; also Trinidad and Tobago, throughout northern South America north to Panama.
Type locality: “Antilles” ; Restricted to the Lesser Antilles by DUNN 1935. Further restricted to St. Vincent by SMITH & TAYLOR 1950. Type locality of the lectotype: “Martinique”.  pergravis: Isla de Providencia, Isla Santa Catalina.
