Range Description

This species is widespread in the savannah zone of sub-Saharan Africa, from Senegal and Gambia, east to western Eritrea, western Ethiopia, and southern Somalia, thence south to the northern and northeastern parts of South Africa, eastern and northern Botswana, northeastern Namibia, and Angola. There is an apparently isolated population south of Lake Tana in northwestern Ethiopia. It occurs in all countries within its mapped range, though definite records appear to be lacking for Sierra Leone, Mali, Togo, Rwanda, and Burundi. It occurs up to 1,850m asl in Ethiopia.
