Range Description

This species is known from Brazil: Minas Gerais (Carrancas and Ingai); Paran (Curitiba - old report, no recent specimens from Parana); Rio Grande do Sul (Bag); Santa Catarina; So Paulo (very old specimens from campo rupestre in city of Sao Paulo); Uruguay, Cerro Largo: Banado de Medina (Schmidt 1922, Blackwelder 1944, Lange 1947, Silva et al. 2008). Many known records are old, with recent records those from Uruguay, Minas Gerais and Rio Grande do Sul (F. Vaz-de-Mello pers. comm. 2013). At present, the extent of occurrence expands to around 92,700 km2, although the area of occupancy is much more restricted and is estimated as between 600 km2 [overlaying grid of 10 km (100 km2) in size]and 1,350 km2[overlaying grid of 15 km (225 km2) in size].With currently only seven known localities (many ofwhichare old records), the number of locations for this species is definitely less than ten unless additional localities for this species are recorded via surveying and collecting.
