This species is endemic to Australia. It is present in eastern Australia from south-eastern South Australia northwards through Victoria and eastern New South Wales to south-eastern Queensland. There is also a disjunct population in south-western Western Australia. The species is known from sea level to 1,240 m asl, in Victoria at least (L. Lumsden pers. comm.).
