Range Description

The main area of distribution of Selysiothemis nigra is in Central Asia, the Middle East, the Mediterranean and the Black Sea region. Its European distribution is mostly confined to coastal areas, except in Spain and parts of Italy. The species is known from all European Mediterranean countries with the exception of France and Slovenia. It is widespread in the Middle East and occurs as far east as Kashmir and Rajasthan in India. However it has a very scattered distribution and is rare in many countries.
