Range Description

The species is widespread in Africa.

In central Africa, it is known from Angola, Cameroon, Democratic Republic of Congo, Central African Republic, Congo, Gabon, Equatorial Guinea, Zambia.

In eastern Africa, it has been recorded in Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Malawi and Burundi: common and widespread in all five countries (Burundi assumed).

In northeastern Africa, the species is recorded from Kenya, Sudan and Somalia. For southern Ethiopia the occurrence is assumed, the Sudan record needs confirmation.

In southern Africa, this species is widespread along perennial tropical rivers, occasional vicariant in arid Namibia. It does not occur in the Cape or indeed in most of South Africa (known only from three specimens from the Kruger National Park and one recent record from the Limpopo Province (Samways 2006 in press)

In western Africa, the species is known from Gambia to Nigeria and possibly Chad.
