Macrohabitat: Lowlands to midlands, 50 – 1386 meters altitude, in marshes
and stream backwaters. Microhabitat: Adults are ground-dwelling and occur on marshy soft
richly organic black mud among dead and dense Juncus-like vegetation shaded by deciduous
broad-leaf evergreen trees (e.g., Alnus ssp.) during the day, similar to that described for E. clairvillei. Dispersal abilities: Macropterous, capable of flight; swift runners. Seasonal occurrence:
Adults have been found in April – September; ovipositing females in April; teneral
adults in late September. Behavior: Adults are diurnal, predaceous and hibernate.
