This species occurs from eastern Panama to southwestern Colombia and northwestern Ecuador, including both slopes of the Cordillera Occidental and Cordillera Central and western slope of the Cordillera Oriental of Colombia. A disjunct population is present in the Cordillera de Merida in Venezuela (Anderson and Soriano 1999; Anderson 1999). It ranges from sea level to around 2,500 m in sufficiently wet areas (Anderson 1999).
