Range Description

This specieshas historically been described from the Coosa and Tennessee River drainages in Georgia, Tennessee, Alabama, Virginia and North Carolina, USA (Hobbs 1981). However, after examining morphological data Taylor (2000) considers the range of this species to be restricted to the CoosaRiver drainage in northwestern Georgia and southeastern Tennessee, as well as small portion of northeastern Alabama (S. Adams, G. Schuster, C. Taylor, pers. comm. 2009).

Pending further investigation, the Extent of Occurrence (EOO) of this species has been estimated to exceed 12,600 km2
