Range Description

This species is known only from the lower Brazos River valley, Brazoria County, Texas between the San Bernard River and Oyster Creek, extending inland from the Gulf of Mexico approximately 32 km (Albaugh 1975). Extensive collecting has not revealed any further specimens although Albaugh (1975) believes this species once occupied a larger range. This species is surrounded by closely related species, so it is unlikely that this species could extend its range (Albaugh 1975, NatureServe 2009). Furthermore, this species has an extent of occurrence (EOO) of approximately 218 km, and its range is severely fragmented (K. Crandall pers. comm. 2009).
