A Hyperolius from the highlands of south-eastern R. D. Congo. Gular flap small, dorsum uniform brown to green, sometimes with light spots, and with a dark and a light canthal stripe. The light stripe continues behind the eye as a dorsolateral stripe, often broken up into spots. Upper side of limbs spotted. Asperities on dorsum. Pupil horizontal.

According to Laurent this species is close to H. atrigularis from the Marungu Plateau, R. D. Congo, and possibly related to castaneus and pictus, other montane species.
