M 38-40 mm, F 39 mm. Distinct and elevated interocular tubercles present. Weakly expressed inner and outer dorsolateral ridges. Small supraocular tubercles or spines. Males with a greyish, largely distensible, single subgular vocal sac.

Similar species: Most similar to G. tschenki which differs by advertisement call and by having a bilobate (not single) subgular vocal sac in males (Glaw and Vences 2007).
