Average body size and minimum adult size vary geographically. Although the throat, chest, and lower sides may be mottled, the abdomen is not. The dorsum is olive or tan in color, and may be marked with scattered black spots or plain. The toes are not webbed, and their tips are rounded and tapered. There is a single metatarsal tubercle on each hind foot (Nelson 1963).
