Description
Width to 50 cm. Bell hemispherical with smooth surface. Eight mouth-arms with extra mouth-bearing shoulders (scapulets) hidden basically, and bearing numerous long filaments. Bell probably typically pale, translucent, or even dark blue or red. Most with a varied number of fine, dull reddish-brown spots on bell surface. Whitish to transparent filaments and yellow gonads. Habitat: probably oceanic, drifting inshore. Distribution: W Indian Ocean, N Australia, W Pacific Ocean (Richmond, 1997).
