Post-doctoral Fellow, Smithsonian Institution, National Museum of Natural History, Department of Entomology
EOL Fellow, Smithsonian Institution, National Museum of Natural History, Department of Entomology
Jadranka Rota developed a strong interest in Lepidoptera (butterflies and moths) at the University of Zagreb, Croatia, where she conducted a Diploma Thesis project “Butterflies of Paklenica National Park.” In 2000 she came to the University of Connecticut to study microlepidopteran systematics with Dr. David Wagner. She completed her Masters Thesis on the family Choreutidae (metalmark moths) in 2003 and continued working with Dr. Wagner on her PhD, during which she also studied the metalmark moths. Dr. Rota’s research focuses on the systematics and behavior of these moths emphasizing features of the adult and larval stages. Currently, she is a Smithsonian Institution postdoctoral fellow at the National Museum of Natural History in Washington, DC, where she is continuing her work on metalmark moths, but also working on other microlepidopteran groups.
