John W. McCarter, Jr. currently serves as President and Chief Executive Officer of The Field Museum. Mr. McCarter previously worked as a Senior Vice President of Booz Allen & Hamilton, Inc., president of DeKalb Corporation, an international agribusiness concern and as the Budget Director of the State of Illinois under Governor Richard B. Ogilvie. Currently, Mr. McCarter is a Director of W.W. Grainger, Janus Funds and Divergence, Inc. where he serves as Chairman of the Board. He is an Emeritus Trustee of the University of Chicago, a Regent at the Smithsonian Institution, a trustee of the National Recreation Foundation, an Emeritus Trustee and former Chairman of Chicago's Public Television Station Channel 11. He is a Director and former Chairman of the Chicago Consulting Alliance and currently serves as Vice Chairman of the Chicago Central Area Committee. Mr. McCarter is a graduate of Princeton University and Harvard Business School, and also attended the London School of Economics.
