- Content Sponsorship
- Donors interested in particular branches of the tree of life can sponsor efforts to find and acquire new content for EOL. Gifts can cover the creation of species page collections as extensive as all mammals in North America or birds of Brazil, or as specific as sea lions in the San Francisco Bay or "New World Foods".
- Fellowships
- Sharing knowledge with global learning communities is the essence of EOL. The Encyclopedia of Life is seeking donors interested in supporting fellowships that will provide the means for important and current scientific research to be incorporated into EOL.
- Core Infrastructure
- In order to put the power of EOL into the hands of people around the world, gifts of all sizes are welcome to support the core infrastructure and operations costs of the initiative.
