Lifespan, longevity, and ageing
Maximum longevity: 10.2 years (captivity) Observations: One specimen of the *leuconotus* subspecies, formerly known as *Conepatus mesoleucus*, was 10.2 years old when it died in captivity (Richard Weigl 2005). Nonetheless, not much is known about the longevity of these animals and further studies are necessary to better estimate their maximum longevity.
