Habitat
Mazama gouazoupira is commonly found in open areas, like the thorn scrub of the Chaco and the Gran Sabana in Venezuela. These animals may be found in very dry areas, and can be found dwelling in savannas, swamplands or at the edge of secondary vegetation and transitional forests. (Mares, Ojeda, and Barquez, 1989; Redford and Eisenberg, 1992)
