Description
This 2008 scanning electron micrograph (SEM) depicts the lumen of a segment of a central venous catheter removed from an asymptomatic patient. The biofilm contained the rod-shaped bacteria, Alcaligenes xylosoxidans in association with fibrinlike material on the catheters surface.
