Bergamini, A. & Gärdenfors, U. Contributor/s Justification
The species seems to have a very restricted distribution. Prof. Kjell Ivar Flatberg (a world expert on the genus) visited the Islands in 2010 and found a couple of new, but still very small subpopulations. The species is listed as Vulnerable under criterion D2 because of the small area of occupancy, small number of known locations and because the species grows in or new rivers which are sensitive environments which can be very quickly impacted by human activities, especially pollution from agricultural and mining activities. History
The species could potentially be listed as Endangered under criterion D because of the estimated small size of the known population, however, this is probably an under-estimate as the species may occur in other sites, hence such a listing seems overly precautionary.
