Peter Maas commented on an older version of "Image":

This is not the now globally extinct North Sea Houting Coregonus oxyrinchus. 'Houtings' from the Danish North Sea basin and German rivers from Eider, Elbe west to Ems like the one in the photo are the still extant Coregonus maraena. The one in the photo can now still be seen in a Danish Aquarium, see image source.
