WhyReef - Fun Facts
Turbinaria coral can look like large bowls or swirls of lettuce leaves, but can also look plate-like. Their polyps, or bodies, are usually much bigger than the polyps of most other corals. Another thing that makes them different from most corals is that sand doesn’t bother them. Sand floating in the water can kill most coral, but not turbinaria coral! They are good at keeping themselves clean, and even eat the sediment.
