The coccidian parasite Cystoisospora belli (=Isospora belli) (phylum Apicomplexa) infects the epithelial cells of the small intestine of humans and causes diarrheal disease and a suite of symptoms known as cystoisosporiasis. It is the least common of the intestinal coccidia that infect humans.
